It’s been a busy year for Ahad Raza Mir. The Yakeen Ka Safar actor had been experimenting with international audiences with Netflix’s Resident Evil and then BBC’s World on Fire season 2. She has a sizable fan base in Pakistan.

He has now made the decision to pack it all up and choose to perform live theater in Toronto. Mir had large shoes to fill when he assumed the role of the traditional anti-hero, for which he had been preparing himself ever since he started his career. Mir has now finished his interpretation of Hamlet by William Shakespeare. The audience has become intrigued by the actor’s forthcoming endeavor after he posted various images of it.

Mir said this in an interview with Toronto Live about his decision: “I think many actors will agree that getting the chance to be on stage is extremely grounding, especially if you have spent some time doing film and TV. It’s a chance to rediscover your acting origins and what you truly enjoy doing. Of course, Hamlet is involved as well.

Every actor hopes to perform the part just once, so getting a second chance is truly great, he continued. Of course, I didn’t expect delays of over three years. I’m really relieved that I was able to fly back here and complete the rehearsals.

The play’s initial release date of 2020 was postponed multiple times because of COVID-19 and unanticipated circumstances. Mir didn’t do anything, even if the future of his ideal project first appeared to be very gloomy. “I did spend the first few months of Covid at home, getting a chance to be with my family, which doesn’t happen often, but then things started to get busy again,” he stated. In addition to other projects back in Pakistan, I shot Resident Evil with Netflix in 2021 and World On Fire with the BBC in 2022. I estimate that I have taken 700 PCR tests. It could be a record.

The actor also revealed his journey from a theatre graduate of the University of Calgary to Pakistan’s TV prince. “I was born in Karachi, Pakistan, where my family has a long history of working in the entertainment industry. My dad was a really significant movie star who later went on to be in some really popular TV shows, and my grandfather actually directed the first film ever made in Pakistan.

The celebrity said, “He made the decision to transfer the family to Canada when my brother and I were little so that we may have a fairly normal life. We initially arrived in Toronto, but far too many Pakistanis who were familiar with my dad’s work were present. He desired a quieter environment.

He picked Calgary, the city where I attended college. At the University of Calgary, I completed my BFA and worked there for approximately a year.

Mir then revealed his intention to relocate to Toronto. “I actually came here to look at flats and attend some meetings. Then, for what I thought would be merely a summer vacation, I went to Pakistan. However, my career there really took off, and I wound up remaining and working there for many years,” he continued. “Bollywood is well-known for its films worldwide. Pakistan is renowned for its long-form programming. Yakeen Ka Safar, a 26-episode television series I was in, nearly overnight transformed my life.

The actor was then questioned over the term “nepotism baby” being used. People are going to say what they’re going to say, Mir said when asked to clarify on the phrase, despite the fact that this wasn’t the first time. I do believe that no one makes a big deal out of a doctor’s child becoming a doctor or a lawyer’s child becoming a lawyer. I didn’t grow up in the acting industry, after all.

He continued, “Until we traveled back to Karachi when I was a child, I didn’t even know that my dad was a famous.
I won’t dispute the fact that coming from the family I do opens doors, but if people don’t appreciate your work, it won’t endure. I’ve had the great fortune to develop my own fan base while appearing on some series. It is not something to take for granted just to be a working actor.

“Privacy is definitely a bit of an issue,” Mir said when asked about dealing with fandom in Pakistan. Let’s just say that while I’m in Pakistan, I don’t venture far from my house. That’s part of what makes being in the GTA so pleasant; I get to meet with people in a more regulated setting here that doesn’t happen at home.

The Rose was gracious enough to host a meet-and-greet where folks came to meet me and celebrate my birthday while I was in Brampton, he said. It was extremely nice of them to provide gifts like chocolate, pencils, and bracelets.

Mir is also the first South Asian actor to portray Hamlet in a professional Canadian production, for those who are unaware. The Ehd-e-Wafa actor spoke on the subject, saying, “When we produced the program in 2019, having a diverse cast felt like a greater concern. In terms of possibilities and roles for people of color, I believe we have made such progress in only a few years that it no longer seems like such a major concern. I suppose I’m content to serve as an example.

Maybe a Pakistani youngster in the audience will see me and think, If he can do it, I can, he continued. South Asian children, and really all children, are under a lot of pressure to follow a career path that is secure. Before deciding that I had to follow my ambition, I was enrolled in business school. I won’t lie; there is risk involved in the arts. And I can get why parents might want their children to make a more sensible decision. But you might as well try them if you’ve arrived to a place where these options are available.
