NDM chief Mohsin Dawar hurt in firing from N. Waziristan
Mohsin Dawar, the leader of the National Democratic Movement (NDM) and a former MNA, was hurt on Saturday when he was shot by police in North Waziristan.
The former congressman was hurt in the leg by police retaliation after they said that NDM supporters opened fire at a nearby security camp.
Dawar was taken to the hospital for treatment, along with three injured NDM supporters.
Dawar’s convoy was ambushed earlier in January in North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, by unidentified attackers. According to the local police, Dawar’s convoy was fired upon in the village of Tapi, Tehsil Miranshah, when he was campaigning.
But Dawar, protected by his armored car, was unscathed during the attack. Police moved the politician to a safe place close by as soon as they could after acting quickly, and they also started looking for the attackers. According to the authorities, Dawar’s automobile was shot through the front and side windows, but his bulletproofing eventually kept him safe and allowed him to be safely evacuated to a secure location.
