Pakistan Navy’s PNS Yamama launch enhances maritime security
The Pakistan Navy’s cutting-edge 4th Offshore Patrol Vessel, PNS Yamama, had its launch ceremony at M/s DAMEN Shipyard Galati in Romania on Wednesday, the military stated in a statement.
It was a historic day for Pakistan’s marine capabilities, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), where Vice primary of the Naval Staff Vice Admiral Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami was the primary guest.
The Vice Chief of the Naval Staff emphasized in his speech the vital importance of maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region given the prevalence of both conventional and non-conventional threats. He emphasized the vital role the Pakistan Navy plays in preserving the secure sea routes that are essential to maritime traffic.
Modern weapons and sensors on multifunctional, highly adaptable vessels like PNS Yamama are intended to strengthen Pakistan Navy’s combat capability in defending maritime borders and maintaining maritime security in the Arabian Sea and beyond.
During the ceremony, the Chief Operations Officer of M/s DAMEN Group Netherlands also reaffirmed the long-standing relationship between the Pakistan Navy and DAMEN Shipyard, which dates back to 1986. In order to meet the operational needs of the Pakistan Navy, he reaffirmed DAMEN’s commitment to providing powerful, technologically superior, and reasonably priced ships.
The inaugural ceremony demonstrated the close bilateral connections and cooperative efforts between Pakistan and Romania in the marine sector. It was witnessed by senior officials from the Romanian government and navy, as well as representatives from M/s DAMEN and the Pakistani community in Romania.
