Top TTP commanders are slain in Mardan IBO, and SP is martyred
Two top TTP leaders were killed on Tuesday during an intelligence-based operation in the Katlang region of Mardan district, leaving a senior police official dead and three others, including a DSP, injured.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Ijaz Khan was killed in the conflict, and DSP Naseem Khan and two other police officers were hurt.
Hasan Qadeer Yousafzai, also known as Mohsin Qadeer, and his assistant Abbas, also known as Essa, were named as the terrorists that were killed. The TTP Haris group, which joined the group in 2011, was comprised of the militants. They had ties to TTP Swat prior to it.
Essa was Qadeer’s brother-in-law, and the terrorist commander was a former military personnel who joined the terror organization in 2011.
During the PTI regime, both moved to Swat with their families. Security authorities wanted them for attacks on security personnel, helping militants, and bombings in the regions of Mardan, Noweshera, and Swabi.
According to Rescue 1122, last night at about 3:30 am, the terrorists started shooting at the police officers.
The injured and the body of the SP were taken right away to the Mardan Medical Complex (MMC) and another nearby hospital.
Ijaz’s funeral was held earlier at the Police Line Mardan, where Deputy Commissioner Fayaz Sher Pavon, Commissioner Shaukat Khan Yousafzai, and DIG Region Sulaiman Khan paid their respects to the martyr.
The body of SP Ijaz has been moved for burial to his hometown of Sherpao.
