Nawaz persuades Fazl to join the alliance

Nawaz Sharif, the supreme leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), visited Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), at his home in a momentous move before of Sunday’s National Assembly premiership elections.

The discussion highlighted the two former coalition partners’ ongoing conversation as they negotiate the political terrain.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman gave a cordial welcome to Nawaz Sharif and other notable PML-N members, such as Ishaq Dar, Ahsan Iqbal, and Rana Sanaullah. Ghulam Ali, Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, and Noor Alam Khan represented the JUI-F.

According to people with knowledge of the talks, Nawaz Sharif and Maulana Fazlur Rehman had a one-on-one meeting that lasted for around an hour. The discussions focused mostly on political issues and ended with both leaders leaving amicably.

A prominent PML-N leader, Rana Sanaullah, gave a post-meeting statement to the media, expressing pleasure with the outcome. “We have endured challenging times together and have consistently sought guidance from Maulana Fazlur Rehman,” he said. “Our association has weathered the storm during the PTI government, with Maulana’s support.”

Highlighting the warmth that was seen throughout the meeting, Sanaullah declared that there was no ill will between the two groups. “Maulana Fazlur Rehman is still the light for us. We sincerely hope to keep his advice and make sure it works,” he declared.

Sanaullah refuted rumors by stating that Nawaz Sharif was in the country to discuss the current political situation rather than to win Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s support. He emphasized the leaders’ regard for one another and their readiness to take into account one another’s viewpoints.

In addition, Sanaullah praised Mahmood Khan Achakzai as a national hero, raising the possibility of a PML-N meeting with Achakzai.
