Following the global outage of Facebook and Instagram, Zuckerberg loses $3 billion
After a worldwide outage of Facebook and Instagram, Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, had to deal with a huge loss of around $3 billion in an instant. With a $176 billion net worth, Zuckerberg is still the fourth richest person in the world despite this setback. Because of the interruption, Meta’s shares fell 1.6%, which reduced Zuckerberg’s fortune.
Tuesday night, there were issues with Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and even Meta Quest VR gear for people all across the world. A few YouTube viewers also experienced platform-related problems. The interruption persisted for almost sixty minutes prior to the restoration of regular services.
Some users were immediately locked out of their Facebook and Instagram accounts during the outage, while others saw error messages. Notwithstanding the difficulties, a large number of users vented their annoyances and experiences on X and other platforms. The owner of X, Elon Musk, used the occasion to make light of Meta by joking that if people could see his message, it meant that X’s servers were up and running.
