Online users see a striking similarity between Aseefa and Benazir Bhutto
By proposing Aseefa Bhutto, his youngest daughter, to be the nation’s first lady, President Asif Ali Zardari has sparked controversy. Many people have questioned the conventional conventions around the role in response to the decision, which has generated a lot of discussion online. When contacted, a few legal experts attested that the president is able to bestow the title on any female member of his family. They replied that there are no legal restrictions on this kind of appointment.
Others, on the other hand, are excited by Aseefa’s elevation to the first ladyship—a title traditionally held by the spouses of prime ministers or presidents—for quite different reasons.
A collage of the mother-daughter pair, dressed in a simple white drape and accessorized with characteristic Benazir Bhutto draping, is circulating online, with several people noting their striking similarity. The fact that Benazir and Aseefa are wearing green kurtas with their dupattas in both photos emphasizes the likeness even more.
Strange similarity
One person posted a collage of Aseefa and Benazir’s photos on the microblogging site X, which was formerly known as Twitter. The user wrote, “Aseefa Bhutto Zardari at her father’s swearing-in ceremony, an absolute mirror image of her mother.” An online user said, “Aseefa is Benazir,” in response to a post that included the first lady and other political figures.
