Haleem Adil of the PTI wants the visitation restriction on Imran lifted
PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh emphasized the threats on the former premier’s life on Wednesday and called for the lifting of the prohibition on seeing party founder Imran Khan, who is being held in Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail.
“Since some terrorists were detained a few days ago, meetings with Imran have been prohibited.” Tomorrow, party leaders and I have a meeting with Imran planned; we must not be denied access. If not, people from all throughout the country will assemble outside the jail. The country cannot withstand any more tests, hence we do not want to endanger Imran’s life,” the PTI leader cautioned the reporters outside the Sindh High Court (SHC).
The PTI chairman made reference to the purported manipulation of the February 8 elections, stating that Barrister Ali Tahir, his attorney, submitted a plea to the electoral tribunal about poll fraud in NA-238. Tahir claimed to have won the seat with a lead of more than 75,000 votes over the MQM-P candidate.
“This is not just about getting a mandate; it’s about protecting the votes of the people who cast ballots,” Adil said, emphasizing that “every Pakistani citizen is entitled to vote, and we are here to restore that right in the legal system.”
He insisted that “this was just the beginning” and they would not give up.
Adil stated that a FIR was filed under Section 22-A against Returning Officer Qazi Farooq Ahmed and District Returning Officer Altaf Sheikh of his seat, and he claimed that the PTI will petition the Supreme Court to maintain their stolen mandate.
“There have been thefts of 22 National Assembly seats, 2 Hyderabad seats, and 38 provincial assembly seats. Karachi voters supported Imran on February 8, but on February 9, a plot stole our mandate, according to Adil.
The PTI leader took aim at the PPP administration in Sindh, claiming that “extortionists, bloodshedders, and target killers” had taken control of the province. He also noted that PTI had received over a million votes in Karachi and that Imran’s party will always support the residents of the port city.
Adil further stated that the PTI has chosen to organize a march with the goal of retrieving Karachi’s stolen mandate, with a million-march planned to follow. The party core committee will publicly announce the date in the near future.
“For one day, we will mobilize our one million votes. We’ll legitimately march once we have authorization,” he continued.
Adil pledged to recover the stolen mandate and release Imran from prison before declaring that the issue of rigged elections will also be heard in public tribunals.
