PMD indicates the most likely Eidul Fitr date

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts that on Tuesday, April 9, people in Pakistan will likely see the Shawwal moon, which signifies the end of Ramadan.

The Shawwal moon is predicted to emerge on April 8 at 11:21 p.m. local time, according to PMD.

The moon is predicted to be between 19 and 20 hours old by April 9, and it will be visible for more than 50 minutes after sunset.

On April 9, most places in the country’s southern regions—including Karachi—are expected to see clear skies. On the other hand, overcast weather could occur in northern regions while the moon is visible.

In the event that the moon is visible on April 9, Eidul Fitr will be observed on Wednesday, April 10, according to PMD.

Muslims throughout the world commemorate Eidul Fitr, a major religious holiday, with prayers, feasts, and gift-giving amongst loved ones.

With six days dedicated to festivals and celebrations, Pakistanis are getting ready for what may be an extended holiday time as the important occasion of Eidul Fitr draws near.

The lunar calendar was implemented by the IT ministry in 2019 in order to guarantee consistency in Eid festivities and handle issues about moon sightings.

This calendar, which is supported by the meteorological service, is now used to determine the dates of several Islamic holidays, such as Eidul Fitr.

Holidays celebrating Eid typically start one day early to give people enough time to make preparations and enjoy the joyful celebrations.

The government is planning to observe a four-day holiday from Tuesday, April 9 to Friday, April 12. When combined with the regular government and certain private office weekend holidays on Saturday and Sunday, the total anticipated holiday duration would be six days.

For Muslims throughout the world, Eidul Fitr is a very significant religious and cultural celebration that ushers in the holy month of Ramadan, which is marked by fasting, prayer, and introspection.

The event is eagerly anticipated in Pakistan, as families gather to greet one another, enjoy meals, and perform charitable deeds for the less fortunate.
