8 people are killed in a Damascus Israeli strike on an Iranian embassy
According to the IRNA news agency, an Israeli airstrike on Monday struck the Iranian embassy in the Syrian capital of Damascus, killing up to eight people. The incident came as worries of an escalation of the conflict in the Middle East are growing, with hundreds of Palestinians dying in Gaza.
While Sana stated that “Zionist forces” attacked the Mezzeh district of Damascus, an Iranian news source claimed that the Syrian Air Force allegedly intercepted some of the Israeli missiles fired on the embassy.
The ambassador of Iran and his family were not injured in the attack on the Iranian diplomatic station in Damascus.
A top commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was also slain in the attack, according to the Mehr news agency.
During his visit to the embassy, Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad spoke with Hossein Amirabdollahian in Iran and denounced the Israeli strike.
Massive damage was inflicted onto the surrounding structures along the targeted site by the hit.
Following the missile assault, the Israeli military declared, “We do not comment on reports in the foreign media.”
The assault occurs as the occupying Israeli troops carry on their heinous acts against the defenseless Palestinians by shooting and bombing Gaza starving citizens.
Amidst the Israeli ground operation that began on October 7, 2023, in reaction to decades-long Israeli oppression, Hamas responded by launching a retaliation, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) this week voted a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire.
