Kate Beckinsale makes her first appearance on the red carpet following a “tough year” of medical issues
After a “rough year” that featured health problems for both her and her loved ones, Kate Beckinsale has made a comeback to the red carpet.
The actress said to PEOPLE at the King’s Trust Gala in New York City, “My parents have both been unwell and my cat… it’s been a bunch of things.”
It’s good to visit with friends and gain some perspective, she continued. Everyone, I believe, has had a somewhat difficult year.
Beckinsale looked stunning in a white organza gown with a flowing skirt and a dramatic one-shoulder design.
The actress also mentioned her long-standing support of the King’s Trust organization, calling their work “so moving and inspiring” and applauding them for aiding children.
Penélope Cruz, Lionel Richie, Chrissy Teigen, John Legend, and other celebrities were also there.
Beckinsale is making her first appearance on the red carpet since the SAG-AFTRA awards in February.
In an Instagram statement, the actor talked about her problems in 2023, describing it as “probably the hardest year of [her] life.”
Although Beckinsale hasn’t revealed the precise cause of her hospitalization, she did allude to it in a previous Instagram picture that included a t-shirt that said “tummy troubles survivor.”
