After a police station shooting, a Paris officer is fighting for his life

According to the French capital’s police commander, one of the two policemen who were shot and critically injured at a police station in Paris on Friday was fighting for his life.

In the 13th area of the French capital, a man was detained on Thursday night after he allegedly attacked a lady with a box cutter, severely wounding both of them after seizing one of their guns.

In France, shootings at police stations are quite uncommon.

“His life is still in danger,” broadcaster France Info was informed by Paris police prefect Laurent Nunez.

Nunez added that a woman who was critically hurt had been the victim of a “very violent attack,” for which the police had been called.

Nunez remarked, “The man was obviously very agitated.”

When the attacker snatched one of the guns, the police took him to the police station, where they had him blow into a breathalyzer, according to Nunez.

Three investigations, including one into “the attempted murder of the woman” and another into “the attempted murder of persons holding public authority,” were announced by the prosecutor’s office.

Nunez withheld all details regarding the assailant.

The man added that the police who were called to the incident had to smash down the apartment door since they did not know if the man knew the woman he had abused.

Return fire injured the suspect, who was taken to the hospital. Prosecutors claim there is no risk to his life.
