Usher will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from BET

This year, Usher is expected to win a significant award.

The network said on Thursday that the 45-year-old King of R&B will get the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 BET Awards on Sunday, June 30.

This esteemed award, previously given to music superstars such as Lionel Richie, Whitney Houston, Prince, and Queen Latifah, honours “special achievements and distinguished public service” by figures who have had a major impact on the entertainment business and culture.

According to a press statement from Connie Orlando, EVP of Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy at BET, “The relationship between BET and Usher spans decades, from his multiple appearances on 106 & Park to most recently winning the Entertainer of the Year trophy at the 55th NAACP Image Awards.”

“Usher continues to set new standards for the music industry and Black excellence,” she said, citing his iconic vocals, thrilling performances, chart-topping records, and trademark motions and sound. We are excited to create a fantastic selection to honour our worldwide icon.

The eight-time Grammy winner is up for four BET Awards this year, including Album of the Year for Coming Home, Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, Best Collaboration, and Best Video for Good Good featuring Summer Walker and 21 Savage. He is also nominated for a Lifetime Achievement Award.
