More Rain Than Usual This Year
Last month, during a Senate meeting, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) warned that Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and other areas would receive more rain than usual this monsoon season.
An NDMA official told the Senate’s Climate Change Committee that Pakistan loses around 4 billion dollars every year due to climate change.
He said this year, monsoon rains (from June 30 to September 15) will be heavier than normal.
Expected rainfall increases by region:
KP: 15% to 30% more rain
Punjab: 50% to 60% more rain
Balochistan: 70% to 80% more rain than normal
