Iran Mourns Top Commanders Killed in Israeli Strikes
Iran’s state news agency, IRNA, said that a national funeral will take place on Saturday morning in Tehran for top military commanders and scientists who were killed in attacks by Israel. The ceremony will start at 8:00 am local time (0430 GMT).
IRNA also said that Hossein Salami, the chief of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, will be buried on Thursday in central Iran. Salami was killed by Israel on the first day of the war.
On June 13, Israel launched heavy airstrikes on Iranian nuclear and military sites. These attacks killed several high-ranking officials, including Salami, who was known to be close to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

During the fighting, residential areas were also bombed. According to Iran’s health ministry, at least 610 civilians have died and more than 4,700 people have been injured.
Iran has also launched attacks in response, which have killed 28 people in Israel, according to official numbers.
