David Corenswet Debuts as Superman in James Gunn DC Reboot
David Corenswet, a newer actor, is the latest person to play Superman. He follows famous actors like Christopher Reeve and Henry Cavill in the role of Clark Kent/Superman. The new Superman movie had a red carpet event in London on Wednesday.
“When I put on the cape, it all comes together. You walk with it behind you and feel like, ‘Yeah, I can do this, ’” said Corenswet, who has acted in TV shows like The Politician and Hollywood, and movies like Twister and Pearl.
This Superman movie is the first look at how director James Gunn is remaking the DC Universe (DCU) for Warner Bros.

James Gunn, who also directed Guardians of the Galaxy and wrote the Superman script, said he wanted to mix parts of the comic books and old Superman movies.
He explained, “My Superman is about kindness. In today’s world, where people can be mean or selfish, Superman is different. He’s kind, honest, and caring. That’s a bold thing to be these days.”
He added, “The movie is about kindness, but it still has big monsters, flying dogs, robots, space fights—everything fun.”
Actress Rachel Brosnahan (from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) plays Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult (known from X-Men, About a Boy, and Nosferatu) plays Superman’s enemy, Lex Luthor.
Hoult said he used comic books to help him act as Lex. “In All-Star Superman, Lex is very proud of being the best human. I tried to bring that energy into my performance,” he said.
Brosnahan said the actresses who played Lois Lane before her were amazing. What makes this movie different, she said, is James Gunn’s fresh and modern take on the story.
“I think James loves these characters and is taking them on new adventures with new friends, which brings the story into today’s world,” she said.
The Superman movie will be released around the world starting July 9.
