Railways Closed Army Deployed for Muharram
Pakistan Railways Closed for Sacred Day, Will Reopen on July 7
Pakistan Railways announced on Thursday that its offices will be closed for a religious day. All booking and reservation offices will reopen on Monday, July 7. People are advised to plan their travel and ticket bookings accordingly.
Luggage Van Revenue
An official from the Ministry of Railways said that Pakistan Railways earned over Rs 3,959 million in the last three years from brake and luggage vans.
These vans were run both by Pakistan Railways itself and by private companies. The official explained that these services were given to private companies through a transparent bidding process. This means the department invited companies publicly and chose the best offers.
He added that the contracts followed all rules, and the prices were set based on how much money the vans made in the past year.
Army to Be Deployed for Muharram Security
The federal government has decided to deploy the Pakistan Army across the country to ensure security during Muharram, as reported.
A notification from the Ministry of Interior said this decision was made after requests from all provincial governments, including Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Islamabad.
The army will support local authorities wherever needed during the holy month.
