Oasis Reunites After 15 Years for Global Tour Starting in Cardiff
Oasis Reunites for World Tour, Starting in Cardiff
The famous British band Oasis is back and starting a 41-show world tour at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. The tour will go to countries like the United States, Japan, Australia, and Brazil.
Liam and Noel Gallagher, who are brothers and were known for fighting in the past, are now playing together again with their bandmates. Their first shows will be on Friday and Saturday in Cardiff, followed by five concerts in their hometown of Manchester starting July 11.
Other shows in the UK and Ireland are already sold out. They’ll perform in big stadiums like Wembley in London, Murrayfield in Edinburgh, and Croke Park in Dublin. After that, they’ll go on tour internationally.
Liam Gallagher, 52, said last week that the most important thing is how the fans in the stadium feel.
Many fans are very excited to see Oasis live again. The last time the band played together was in 2009, and people thought they would never reunite because of their bad falling-out.
Their concerts in the 1990s are seen as legendary. A fan named Sean Campbell, 35, said, “It feels magical. I’ve waited years for this moment.”
Ticket Problems
Oasis became famous in the 1990s with songs like “Live Forever” and “Wonderwall”. They announced their comeback tour in August 2024, just before the 30th anniversary of their first album “Definitely Maybe”.
The band broke up in 2009. Noel said he couldn’t work with Liam anymore. Since then, they’ve made angry comments about each other in public and played solo, but never together.
Their surprise reunion made fans rush to buy tickets. But many people were upset when ticket prices went up suddenly. The UK’s competition authority even warned sellers about legal action.
Some tickets were resold for thousands of pounds. Scammers also tricked fans online. Lloyds Bank said that fans lost over £2 million to ticket scams.
However, the tour is expected to help the UK economy. Barclays Bank said fans could spend over £1 billion on tickets, travel, and hotels.
What to Expect at the Shows
In the UK, Oasis will be supported by Richard Ashcroft from The Verve and the band Cast.
The band hasn’t shared which songs they’ll play, so fans are guessing online. Some think there may be surprise guests or even new songs.
On Wednesday night, drones lit up the sky over the Cardiff stadium with the Oasis logo, creating more excitement.
Doors will open on Friday at 5:00 pm. The band will start playing after the two opening acts, around 8:00 pm, and the show will end by 10:30 pm.
The stadium can hold 74,500 people, and the roof will be closed to create a better concert experience.
Oasis began practicing together months ago and recently had rehearsals in London. They’ve also added new band members, including a keyboard player and a drummer.
In the tour program, Noel Gallagher, 58, said Oasis was never fake or perfect. He said, “We were rough, not polished, but people loved that.”
