Government Makes New Decisions to Help Pilgrims Travel Safely
A meeting was held to discuss problems faced by people going on religious pilgrimages. It was led by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the head of the Special Task Force on Pilgrims’ Issues.
Other important people at the meeting included the Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, the Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, and the Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry. Senior officers from different departments also joined.
During the meeting:
Civil Aviation officials said that flights to Iran have been increased from 6 to 15 per week.
For Arbaeen, 107 special flights will be run to Iraq.
A new ferry service will also start to make travel easier for pilgrims.
After Ashura, the government will check the security situation and then decide if people can also travel by land to Iraq for Arbaeen.
It was also decided that:
From January 1, 2026, all pilgrims must travel through registered group organizers. The current “Salar” system will be stopped.
So far, 1,413 people have applied to become group organizers. Their documents are being checked now.
The government will also stop people from traveling to Iraq illegally by pretending they are pilgrims.
The Interior Minister told the FIA and other departments to make sure no one travels to Iraq without proper permission.
