Charlize Theron Slams Hollywood Bias Against Female Action Stars
Famous actor Charlize Theron has done many action movies like Æon Flux, Atomic Blonde, The Old Guard, The Fate of the Furious, and Mad Max: Fury Road. These roles helped her become one of the few female action stars in Hollywood. But she says it wasn’t an easy journey.
When asked if it’s harder to make action movies with women as the lead, Theron said, “Yes, it’s harder. Everyone knows that.”
She explained that movies with women in the lead don’t get approved as easily as those with men. “What bothers me is that male actors often get more chances,” she said.
“If a woman stars in an action movie and it doesn’t do well, she might not get another chance. But if a man’s action movie fails, studios still give him more chances. That’s not fair,” she added.
Charlize is currently working on a new action thriller called Apex. She’s also part of director Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic movie The Odyssey.
Plus, she hinted that there might be a third part in The Old Guard series on Netflix.
