Huda Mustafa Details Childhood Abuse and Bullying
‘Love Island USA’ Star Huda Mustafa Shares Harrowing Childhood Abuse and Bullying Experience
LOS ANGELES – Love Island USA alum Huda Mustafa has opened up about her traumatic past in a candid interview with Alex Cooper on the popular podcast Call Her Daddy. The 24-year-old reality TV personality spoke about growing up in an abusive household and facing bullying and discrimination as a Muslim immigrant in America.
“My parents immigrated to America and got their citizenship. My dad had his own business, and my mom was a teacher,” Mustafa shared. “We weren’t fortunate as kids.”
Mustafa, now a mother to a four-year-old daughter, recalled heartbreaking memories from her childhood, particularly the violence at home. “My dad was extremely abusive — to my mother, to me, and my siblings,” she said. “A vivid memory I have is hearing my dad beating the s— out of my mom in the room.”
In addition to domestic abuse, Mustafa faced bullying during her school years. “Girls would push me into lockers,” she recalled, also revealing that she was sexually harassed and ridiculed for her identity. “A guy in middle school groped me and called me a ‘terrorist’ because I was Muslim and Palestinian.”
Mustafa’s emotional revelations come shortly after the conclusion of Love Island USA Season 7, which ended earlier this month. The season crowned Amaya Espinal from New York City and Bryan Arenales from Boston as the winning couple. Mustafa and her partner Chris Seeley finished in third place.
Her powerful story adds to the growing conversation about childhood trauma, identity-based discrimination, and the resilience of women of color in the public eye.
