Coldplay Dedicates Nashville Concert to Ozzy Osbourne Hours After His Death

NASHVILLE — In an emotional tribute, Coldplay dedicated their Tuesday night performance at Nissan Stadium to the late heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away earlier that day at the age of 76.

The British rock band honored the Black Sabbath frontman with a moving rendition of the 1972 ballad “Changes”, originally performed by Osbourne. Frontman Chris Martin paused during the show to express the band’s admiration for the legendary singer.

“We’d like to dedicate this whole show to the incredible genius, talent, and character, called a gift to the world, who was Ozzy Osbourne. Ozzy, we love you, wherever you’re going,” said Martin.

“We send our love to his family,” he added, as the crowd responded with a heartfelt ovation.

The Osbourne family confirmed the death of the “Prince of Darkness” earlier on Tuesday, just days after his final live appearance at Villa Park in Birmingham—his hometown. The family issued a statement saying:

“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.”

They also requested privacy during this difficult time.

Osbourne had publicly battled Parkinson’s disease since 2019. Despite health struggles, he continued performing until earlier this month.
