ECP Notifies Senate Election Winners from KP, PTI Secures Majority
ISLAMABAD – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has officially notified the results of the recent Senate elections held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), confirming the names of successful candidates on general, women’s reserved, and technocrat seats.
According to the ECP notification, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) secured four general seats, with Murad Saeed, Faisal Javed, Noorul Haq Qadri, and Mirza Afridi emerging victorious. From the joint opposition alliance, Niaz Ahmed of PML-N, Ataul Haq Darvesh of JUI-F, and Talha Mahmood of PPP won the remaining three general seats.
On the women’s reserved seats, PTI’s Rubina Naz and PPP’s Rubina Khalid were declared elected. For the technocrat seats, PTI’s Azam Swati and JUI-F’s Dilawar Khan were announced as winners.
In a rare show of political consensus, both PTI and opposition parties had reached an understanding to avoid a contentious contest. As a result, PTI secured a total of six out of 11 seats, while the opposition alliance won five seats.
This development marks a significant outcome in the ongoing power balance between the ruling party in KP and the opposition bloc.
