Kamala Harris Wont Run for California Governor
Kamala Harris Says She Won’t Run for California Governor
Kamala Harris has announced that she will not run for Governor of California in the upcoming election.
“I thought about it seriously. I love California — it’s my home. But I’ve decided not to run,” she said in a public statement.
Harris also said she is not planning to run for any office right now, but left the door open for a possible presidential run in 2028.
“For now, I won’t hold any elected position. I want to spend time listening to the people, helping Democrats win, and I’ll share more about my plans soon,” she added.
Kamala Harris has stayed out of the spotlight since losing the 2024 presidential election to Republican Donald Trump.
Current California Governor Gavin Newsom cannot run again because of term limits.
Several top Democrats have already announced they want to run for governor. These include Xavier Becerra, who worked in Joe Biden’s cabinet, and former Congresswoman Katie Porter.
