ASU to Launch First Ever Pakistan Campus in 2025

Arizona State University to Open First Campus in Pakistan

KARACHI – For the first time, a top U.S. university, Arizona State University (ASU), is establishing a physical campus in Pakistan. The new campus will start classes in Fall 2025.

The project is being led by NIT (New Institute of Technology), which will run two schools:

School of Management Sciences

School of Data Sciences and Information Technology

The campus will follow an American academic system while respecting Pakistani culture and educational values.

This major education move is led by Shahzeb Awan, a lawyer trained in London, and Jahanzeb Burana, a finance expert from Harvard.

In April 2025, a formal deal was signed at ASU’s main campus in Tempe, Arizona.

ASU officials said that the institute will give students a powerful learning experience to help them compete in the global job market.

Dual Degrees & Study Abroad Opportunities
Students at NIT will have a dual degree option, allowing them to earn degrees from both ASU and NIT simultaneously.

They will also have the chance to study at ASU campuses in Washington, D.C., California, and more than 30 partner universities around the world through the ASU-Cintana Alliance.

PM Calls It a ‘Milestone’
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called this partnership a “milestone” in Pakistan’s education system. He said, “NIT will be a world-class institution that allows our youth to succeed in global markets.”

More Than Just a University
The new campus will feature:

High-tech labs

Innovation hubs

Research centers for green technology and entrepreneurship

To help students from poor families, 30% of seats will be reserved for them through need-based scholarships.

This launch is expected to create new learning paths, improve job chances, and build Pakistan’s image in global education.
