Man’s Body Found 28 Years After Snowstorm in Kohistan

KOHISTAN – A body found in the Lady Meadows area of Palas, Kohistan, has been identified as that of Naseer Uddin, a man who went missing 28 years ago during a snowstorm.

Local man Umar Khan and his friends found the body while trekking through the snowy Supat Valley. The body was surprisingly well-preserved. A national identity card found in the pocket helped confirm the man’s identity.

Police said Naseer Uddin was likely walking through the area with his family when he fell into a deep hole (called a crevasse) during a snowstorm. He had left his hometown in Palas due to a family dispute.

Umar Khan said he buried the body for now to stop it from decaying and later informed the family after tracking them down.
