Victim Rescued Mid-Procedure, Four Arrested, Six on the Run
RAWAT – In a shocking discovery, police uncovered a secret illegal operation theatre hidden inside a private bungalow in Rawat, where illicit organ transplants were reportedly being carried out.
According to officials, the breakthrough came during routine police patrolling when officers heard distressing screams from the area. Upon investigating, they raided the premises with the support of female police personnel. Inside, they found Hanan Khan—who had just undergone surgery and was still reeling from its effects—lying with fresh stitches from a kidney removal procedure.
Initial findings revealed that Hanan was deceived with a fake job offer and sedated shortly after arriving at the location. When he regained consciousness, he realized one of his kidneys had been extracted.
The raid led to the arrest of four suspects, while six others managed to escape. Authorities seized surgical tools and medical supplies used for illegal organ removal from the site.
Police have since registered a case and launched an extensive investigation to track down the remaining suspects and dismantle the wider network involved.
This disturbing case adds to the growing concerns surrounding the illegal organ trade in the region. Back in 2020, the Punjab Human Organ Transplantation Authority (PHOTA) had cracked down on a similar operation in Lahore, where illegal kidney transplants were being conducted under the radar.
At the time, PHOTA’s Vigilance Cell, led by Adnan Ahmed Bhatti, had warned of a rising trend in unlawful kidney trade across the province. The group behind that network was also found operating covert operation theatres in both Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The recent incident in Rawat highlights how deeply entrenched and dangerously active this underground trade remains — preying on vulnerable individuals and exploiting them for profit.
