Aurangzeb Vows Tax Relief for Salaried Class, Urges Youth to Seize Opportunities

KARACHI – Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Monday assured that the government is committed to further easing the tax burden on the salaried class, reaffirming its pledge to make the system more balanced and fair.

Speaking to reporters after attending a job fair in Karachi, Aurangzeb said Pakistan’s economic growth is moving in a positive direction but stressed the need for stronger efforts to stabilize the economy. He urged the youth to channel their potential productively, noting that such events create valuable opportunities for job seekers.

The finance minister also highlighted the role of the private sector, calling it a key driver of long-term economic stability.

It is worth mentioning that the government had already reduced the income tax ratio in the FY2025-26 budget as part of its relief measures for salaried workers.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that broadening the tax base and reducing pressure on low-income groups remain top government priorities. Chairing a review meeting on Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reforms, the prime minister welcomed the introduction of simplified tax return forms in Urdu and directed the launch of a helpline to assist citizens.

He further emphasized that digital invoicing in Urdu should be introduced to make the tax process more transparent and accessible. “In tax reforms, the focus should remain on the convenience of the common man,” PM Shehbaz said.
