Punjab Updates War Book to Counter Modern Security Threats
LAHORE – The Punjab Home Department has announced that the 1981 War Book is being revised to address modern-day security challenges.
According to a department spokesperson, officials were briefed on the responsibilities of 33 government departments in the event of enemy aggression, with clear roles defined for each institution.
The meeting reviewed strategies for protecting key installations, safeguarding the public, and countering threats such as drone strikes, cyber-attacks, and missile strikes. Proposals for establishing shelters and bunkers in urban areas also came under discussion.
Authorities stressed the importance of ensuring a steady supply of food and medicines, keeping hospitals fully functional, preventing propaganda on social media, and ensuring the delivery of authentic information to the public.
District-level control rooms have been activated, while Civil Defense is being equipped with modern resources. Intelligence committees at the district and divisional levels will receive additional powers, and Civil Defense teams have been tasked with identifying shelter locations.
The session was attended by Additional IG Tariq Chauhan, Dr. Rizwan, Fazal-ur-Rehman, Colonel Shehzad Amir, and other senior officials. The spokesperson confirmed that the Punjab War Book is undergoing a comprehensive update to align with current challenges.
Punjab Enforces ‘Hotel Eye’ System to Monitor Guest Houses
In a related development, the Punjab Home Department has made it mandatory for all guest houses and private accommodations across the province to register on the ‘Hotel Eye’ software, a move aimed at curbing terrorism, crime, and other illegal activities.
Under the new policy, all guest houses and service providers must upload guest data into the system for digital verification of both domestic and foreign residents. An online portal has been launched to facilitate the registration process.
