Workers Rescued After Call Center Flooded in Karachi

KARACHI – August 20, 2025: Rescue teams evacuated dozens of employees after heavy monsoon rains flooded a call center in Karachi on Tuesday, leaving workers trapped inside.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, continuous downpours caused severe water accumulation in the building, cutting off safe exits for the staff. Emergency crews arrived at the scene and safely shifted all employees to secure locations.

“The flooding inside had reached a dangerous level, making it impossible for workers to leave on their own. Our teams responded promptly to ensure their safety,” a Rescue 1122 spokesperson said.

Karachi has been battling widespread urban flooding in recent days as heavy rains overwhelmed the city’s fragile drainage system. Low-lying neighborhoods, residential areas, and commercial buildings have reported severe waterlogging, prompting a flood of emergency calls to rescue services.

Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay away from waterlogged zones, with the Meteorological Department warning of more heavy rain in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) confirmed that nationwide internet services have been fully restored after disruptions caused by the downpour.
