Jonas Brothers Share Heartfelt Story Behind When You Look Me in the Eyes
Jonas Brothers Reflect on Meaning Behind ‘When You Look Me in the Eyes’
The Jonas Brothers recently opened up about one of their most cherished songs, When You Look Me in the Eyes, during a heartfelt conversation with Kelly Clarkson on her show, Songs & Stories.
Released in 2008, the track holds a special place in the brothers’ hearts, as it was co-written with their father, Kevin Jonas Sr. Joe Jonas, 36, shared nostalgic memories of recording the song in their native New Jersey. “I remember recording it in the basement of an office building in New Jersey, and we had to be quiet when we walked through the hallways,” he recalled.
Nick Jonas, 32, joked that the studio “definitely wasn’t sanctioned,” highlighting the humble beginnings behind the now-beloved track. Despite the unconventional setup, the song has endured as a fan favorite and a mainstay in the band’s live performances.
Joe reflected on the song’s meaning, explaining that it captures the essence of young love, self-discovery, and the experiences of traveling the world. “It was really special to be able to create this song with our dad, and years later still play it with all these fans coming to our shows and singing along,” he said.
The song’s importance was recently showcased during the Jonas Brothers’ JONAS20: Greetings From Your Hometown Tour. At MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, family members joined the band on stage for a memorable performance of When You Look Me in the Eyes.
