Liverpool Set for New Bid as Isak Transfer Talks Heat Up

Liverpool Eye Fresh Bid for Isak Amid Attack Reinforcement Plans

Liverpool is looking to bolster their attacking options following the departures of Darwin Núñez and Luis Díaz, as well as the tragic passing of Diogo Jota.

With Alexander Isak reportedly seeking a move away from Newcastle United, the Reds are expected to make a fresh approach on Monday night. Their initial bid for the Swedish striker was turned down, and no follow-up offer has been made—until now.

The 25-year-old striker had a delayed start to the season, returning late from the summer break and training with his former club, Real Sociedad. Notably, he was the only member of the 2024-25 Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Team of the Year who did not attend the awards ceremony, citing personal reasons.

“When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can’t continue. That’s where things are for me right now — and why change is in the best interest of everyone, not just myself,” Isak shared on Instagram.

Isak was initially left out of Newcastle’s pre-season tour of Asia but returned to training earlier this month. He missed the season opener against Aston Villa, which ended in a 0-0 draw.

With just six days left in the transfer window, Liverpool is reportedly preparing another bid for the Sweden international. Ian Doyle of the Liverpool Echo has hinted that Newcastle may be softening their stance and suggested a £130 million offer could secure Isak’s move to Anfield “sooner rather than later.”

On the other hand, Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope believes Isak is “almost certain” to remain at Newcastle this summer, suggesting the club is unlikely to approve a transfer.

Still, Liverpool’s apparent focus on Isak, without publicly pursuing alternatives, hints at a strong belief that a deal could be reached.
