Pakistani Innovator Develops Smartphone-Controlled Car, Aims to Assist Disabled Drivers
Taxila, Punjab — Muhammad Subhan, a resident of Taxila, has unveiled an innovative project that allows a car to be operated through a smartphone application. Speaking on ARY News’ Bakhabar Savera, Subhan explained that the mobile app, already available on the Google Play Store, can control the steering, brakes, accelerator, and clutch.
“I developed this kit in just three months and installed it in the car,” Subhan said. “It connects to a smartphone app, letting the driver control all the essential functions needed to operate the vehicle.”
Currently, the project is in its early stages. Subhan noted that the car does not yet have sensors and is mainly useful for parking and basic maneuvering. “My main goal is to help disabled individuals drive using only their hands,” he added.
While the smartphone app can manage the clutch, gear shifting still needs to be done manually. “At the moment, we shift the gear manually, then release the clutch through the phone and continue driving,” Subhan explained.
The car also retains its traditional manual driving option. “A simple button allows the car to connect or disconnect from the smartphone. When it’s off, the car can be driven manually,” he said.
Looking to the future, Subhan hopes to integrate artificial intelligence into the system. “Eventually, we want to simply tell the car to go to Lahore, Rawalpindi, or any other city, and it will drive to the destination on its own,” he shared.
Subhan, who holds a diploma in mechanical studies, credits tech entrepreneur Elon Musk as a major inspiration and dreams of competing with him in the tech space one day.
