Boston – Jarren Duran’s solo homer in the fifth inning erased a two-run deficit and helped the Red Sox secure their fourth win in five games. It marked Duran’s 13th home run of the season and gave second-place Boston the momentum they needed.
Red Sox starter Hirokazu Sugano struggled, giving up four runs and six hits over six innings, taking his first loss since July 2. Just last week, the 35-year-old had helped Boston with five scoreless innings in a victory over Baltimore.

Moments later, Jackson Holliday hit a deep fly that could have scored Carlson, but the overturned call kept Baltimore off the board.
