Cobra Kai Creators Set to Revive Knight Rider for the Big Screen

The legendary Knight Rider franchise is gearing up for a modern reboot, with the creative minds behind Cobra Kai taking the wheel. According to THR, Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald are in negotiations to write the screenplay for the new Knight Rider movie.

The trio, known for bringing Cobra Kai to life, is also being considered to direct the film while producing it under their Counterbalance Entertainment banner. They’ll be joined by Kelly McCormick and David Leitch of 87North, along with Gary Barber and Chris Stone from Spyglass.

This project marks the second major film endeavor for Hurwitz, Schlossberg, and Heald, following their 2021 work on Plan B. A previous attempt to reboot the series in 2020, which involved James Wan, never materialized.

The original Knight Rider series, created by Glenn A. Larson, aired on NBC from 1982 to 1986. It starred David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight and featured the iconic AI-powered car KITT, voiced by William Daniels. Over the years, the show became a global pop culture phenomenon, inspiring spin-offs, merchandise, and video games.

The upcoming film aims to honor the spirit of the original while introducing a fresh, action-packed take for today’s audiences. Fans can expect a nostalgic return of Michael Knight and KITT in one of the most anticipated reboots in years.
