Tesla Cuts Model 3 Price Unveils Model Y L in China
Tesla Cuts Price of New Model 3 in China, Launches Six-Seater Model Y L
BEIJING – Tesla has introduced a price cut for its latest Model 3 variant in China, just weeks after the electric vehicle maker launched the long-range rear-wheel-drive version.
The new Model 3 boasts a driving range of 830 kilometers on a single charge and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds. Despite the reduction, the sedan’s starting price remains at 235,500 yuan. Meanwhile, the higher-end long-range all-wheel-drive and performance versions continue to be priced at 285,500 yuan and 339,500 yuan, respectively.
Industry analysts say the price adjustment is a strategic move aimed at keeping Tesla competitive in China’s fast-growing electric vehicle market, where both established brands and new entrants are intensifying competition.
Alongside the updated Model 3, Tesla also rolled out the Model Y L, a six-seater SUV priced at 339,000 yuan. Designed to challenge popular family-focused electric SUVs, the Model Y L features a unique three-motor system. However, critics argue that its space and comfort fall short compared to rivals.
The launch of both vehicles highlights Tesla’s push to expand its lineup and secure a stronger foothold in the world’s largest EV market.
