Jackson’s Bayern Move Blocked as Chelsea Strikers Face Injury Crisis

Munich – Jackson’s planned season-long move to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich hit an unexpected roadblock on Saturday, after Chelsea called off the deal due to a sudden injury crisis.

The Blues striker Liam Delap is set to miss up to eight weeks following a hamstring injury sustained in Saturday’s win over Fulham, while England forward Cole Palmer is also sidelined with a groin issue.

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca would have been left with only Joao Pedro as a fit senior striker if Jackson were allowed to leave, particularly after Christopher Nkunku’s recent transfer to AC Milan.

Following Bayern’s 3-2 victory over Augsburg on Saturday, sporting director Max Eberl confirmed the move had been canceled.

“Chelsea informed us that they would like the player back after we agreed yesterday,” Eberl said. “The situation now is that the lad is here in Munich, but we are sending him back.”

Jackson, 24, was reportedly frustrated by Chelsea’s last-minute decision and chose to remain in Germany on Sunday while his representatives try to resolve the standoff. His agent, Diomansy Kamara, took to social media to clarify that Jackson would not be returning to Chelsea.

“We’re not going back. The plane doesn’t go backwards: Munich,” Kamara said.

Chelsea is reportedly exploring a move for Sporting Lisbon forward Conrad Harder before Monday’s transfer deadline, a development that could reopen the door for Jackson’s move to Bayern. Sources say the club prefers a permanent sale rather than reviving a loan deal.

Earlier on Saturday, an agreement had been reached for Jackson to join Bayern on an initial £13 million (15 million euros) loan, with an option for the German giants to make the transfer permanent for £52 million.

Jackson, who has yet to feature for Chelsea this season, had been told he was not in Maresca’s plans after the arrivals of Delap and Joao Pedro.

Since joining from Villarreal two years ago, Jackson’s Chelsea career has been turbulent, with inconsistent finishing drawing criticism and scrutiny.
