Chloe Malle Named Vogue EIC
Chloe Malle Named Vogue’s New Editor-in-Chief
Fashion insiders have a new star to watch: Chloe Malle, 39, the daughter of Emmy and Golden Globe winner Candice Bergen and French filmmaker Louis Malle, has reportedly been appointed as the next editor-in-chief of Vogue. The announcement is expected to go official on Tuesday, September 2.
Malle, who has been with Vogue as an editor since 2011, was long considered a frontrunner to take over after Anna Wintour’s retirement. Over the years, she has built a reputation for high-profile interviews, including a recent cover story with Lauren Sanchez, coinciding with Sanchez’s Venetian wedding this June.
Insiders say that the new EIC role was heavily influenced by Wintour and Condé Nast CEO Roger Lynch, who had shortlisted Malle among other top candidates from the publication’s seasoned staff.
For context, Wintour, 75, announced in June that she would step down as Vogue’s editor-in-chief after a remarkable 37-year run. She will, however, remain Condé Nast’s chief content officer and Vogue’s global editorial director. Malle will now take the reins of the magazine’s day-to-day operations across all platforms, reporting directly to Wintour.
