High-Level Flood Hits Budhni Nullah, Homes Submerged in Peshawar
Peshawar – The Irrigation Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported a dramatic rise in water discharge at Darmangi in Budhni Nullah, reaching 16,142 cusecs, triggering a high-level flood alert.
Authorities issued warnings on social media, sharing a video of Shareen Khan, Executive Engineer of the Peshawar Canal Division, announcing the alert through local mosques.
The rising waters have already entered residential areas, including Arbab Cottage, submerging homes and forcing residents onto rooftops for safety. Many households have suffered extensive damage, with personal belongings washed away by the floodwaters.
Rescue teams are actively monitoring the situation and assisting affected families, as officials continue efforts to contain the flood and provide aid to those in need.
Five people are being rescued or taking shelter on rooftops amid floodwaters.
