Haripur Raids Mobile Cloning IMEI Tampering Crackdown

Haripur — Authorities Crack Down on Mobile Cloning and IMEI Tampering

Joint enforcement teams carried out raids on several mobile repair shops in Haripur, including areas near Fowara Masjid in Mochi Bazaar and along Main GT Road.

During the operations, officials seized a large quantity of equipment, such as cloned mobile phones, desktop computers, laptops, USB devices, and a DVR system. Three suspects involved in IMEI tampering were arrested on the spot and handed over to the National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency (NCCIA) for further questioning.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) warned that IMEI tampering and mobile cloning are serious threats to national security, as they enable cybercrime, financial fraud, and other unlawful activities. The authority reiterated its zero-tolerance stance against such practices and urged the public to report any suspicious activities. It further assured that strict legal action would be taken against violators.

This development reflects growing coordination between regulatory bodies and cybercrime investigators to safeguard Pakistan’s digital systems and ensure lawful telecom services.

Interior Minister Orders Probe into SIM Data Leak

Meanwhile, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has taken notice of reports regarding the leak of mobile SIM data. Acting on his instructions, the NCCIA has launched a formal investigation.

A special inquiry team has been formed to probe the matter from all angles. Authorities confirmed that those found guilty will face legal action. The team has been directed to submit a detailed report to the Interior Minister within 14 days.
