Azma Bukhari Rs. 16B Sewerage for Gujrat

Azma Bukhari Rs. 16B Sewerage for Gujrat

Azma Bukhari Slams Past Mismanagement, Announces Rs. 16 Billion Sewerage Project for Gujrat

Gujrat — Azma Bukhari, speaking to the media, drew attention to what she described as “poetic justice” following the recent egg-throwing incident targeting Aleema Khan in Rawalpindi. “Those who once celebrated when shoes were hurled at others are now facing the consequences of their own actions,” Bukhari said. She clarified that no FIR has been filed yet regarding the incident.

Bukhari also criticized the historic misuse of development funds in Gujrat, highlighting that despite billions of rupees allocated to the city, essential infrastructure like a proper sewerage system remained neglected. She pointed out that even though a prominent figure from Gujarat had held key offices, including Deputy Prime Minister, Chief Minister, and Speaker, basic civic amenities were overlooked. “They kept saying Gujarat is ours, but where did all the billions go?” she asked.

Targeting political opponents, Bukhari condemned the continued focus on irrelevant statements from abroad and discussions about Adiala Jail, instead of addressing urgent flood relief and rehabilitation efforts.

She announced that the Punjab government, under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, will construct a modern sewerage system for Gujrat at an estimated cost of Rs. 16 billion.

The remarks came in the wake of a viral incident in Rawalpindi, where an egg was thrown at Aleema Khan, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, outside Adiala Jail. The video circulating online showed the moment two unidentified women hurled an egg at her during a press briefing following her meeting with Imran Khan.

PTI workers quickly surrounded Aleema Khan, preventing further attacks, while police detained both women involved in the act.
