Emma Heming on Bruce Willis Dementia
Emma Heming Opens Up on Bruce Willis’ Dementia Care and Family Life
Emma Heming, 47, has shared a heartfelt look into her family life in her new documentary, revealing that her husband Bruce Willis, 70, who has been living with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) for the past few years, now resides in a separate home with round-the-clock caregivers. The couple’s daughters, Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11, remain with Heming.
Speaking on a recent TV appearance, Heming addressed the criticism the family faced over this arrangement. She emphasized that the decision, while difficult, was made with safety and well-being in mind.
“It was the safest and best decision—not just for Bruce, but also for our two young girls,” she said. “I know that Bruce has the best care 100% of the time, and his needs are fully met, as are those of our daughters. So this isn’t up for debate.”
Heming also highlighted the challenges caregivers face in society, pointing out the difference between people offering opinions and those with real experience.
“Dementia looks different in every household. If you’ve seen one case, you’ve only seen one case. Families need to do what’s right for their loved ones and ensure the safety of everyone, including young children,” she explained.
Bruce Willis remains an iconic figure in Hollywood, and Heming’s candid words offer a rare glimpse into how the family is navigating this difficult chapter while prioritizing care and safety.
