Emma Heming on Marriage Struggles with Bruce Willis
Emma Heming Opens Up About Struggles in Marriage with Bruce Willis Before Dementia Diagnosis
In a heartfelt interview with an international publication, Emma Heming, 47, revealed that her marriage to Bruce Willis, 70, was “crumbling” several years ago. She admitted she even contemplated divorce before Willis was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a serious neurodegenerative condition, in 2022.
Heming, who shares two daughters, Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11, with the Hollywood icon, recalled noticing a sudden change in Willis’ behavior. “I felt like my marriage was crumbling,” she said. “I kept thinking, ‘What is going on? This is not the person that I married. Something is just so off.’”
The model and entrepreneur described how she struggled to understand the shift in their once “romantic, beautiful story.” She explained that the dynamic between them has changed over time. “It doesn’t even feel like this ‘husband and wife’ thing anymore. We’re almost past that. I don’t know what you call this, but it’s something else. I just feel very connected to him, and I don’t know what that label would be,” Heming said.
She concluded with a touching tribute to her husband: “It’s just deeper. He’s my person.”
