Indus Floods Submerge Sindh Villages

Rising Floodwaters Submerge Crops and Villages Along the Indus River

Flooding along the Indus River continues to wreak havoc in Sindh, as water levels surge at key barrages and inundate surrounding areas.

At Punjnad Headworks, water inflow and outflow were recorded at 575,195 cusecs. Meanwhile, Guddu Barrage saw an inflow of 544,658 cusecs and an outflow of 514,051 cusecs. The barrage control room reported a sharp rise of 31,996 cusecs in water levels over the past 24 hours, with further increases expected in the coming day.

The flood has fully submerged the katcha areas of Kandhkot district, where hundreds of acres of cotton, rice, and other crops stand underwater.

Sukkur Barrage reported an inflow of 470,580 cusecs and an outflow of 422,400 cusecs. Downstream at Kotri Barrage, inflow reached 262,509 cusecs with an outflow of 254,354 cusecs.

The flood has also caused a breach in the Zamindari Bund near New Manjath in Naushahro Feroz district, sending water into the villages of Khadim Mangnejo and Akbar Brohi. Residents of the katcha areas have been confined to their homes, and the rising waters have damaged standing crops. Many stranded families are calling on authorities for urgent rescue operations.
