ED Summons Urvashi & Mimi in Betting Fraud
ED Summons Urvashi Rautela, Mimi Chakraborty Over Betting App Fraud Probe
New Delhi – The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela to appear at its Delhi office on Tuesday, sources said. Meanwhile, actor and former Trinamool Congress MP Mimi Chakraborty has been asked to report a day earlier, in connection with the ongoing investigation into a high-profile betting app fraud.
An ED official stated, “Once they appear, their statements will be recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).”
The probe is part of a broader crackdown on online betting platforms that allegedly used celebrity endorsements to attract users and collect funds illegally. Both Rautela and Chakraborty are reported to have promoted some of these apps in the past.
These online gaming and betting platforms have been under scrutiny for suspected money laundering and tax evasion. The ED has previously questioned several actors and cricketers for promoting such apps, which are accused of defrauding users and investors of significant sums while evading taxes.
