Yankees Brewers Mets Guardians Win

Yankees Stay Hot, Brewers Near Division Title, Mets and Guardians Keep Winning Streaks

New York Yankees 7, Baltimore Orioles 0
The Yankees are on a roll, winning six of their last eight games and keeping pace with the first-place Toronto Blue Jays in the AL East. Thursday’s 7-0 victory over Baltimore, combined with a Blue Jays loss earlier in the day, trimmed the division gap to three games with just nine left to play.

Framber Valdez Fried (18-5) dominated, allowing only three singles and one walk while striking out three in both the third and sixth innings. He’s now won five consecutive starts. Paul Blackburn closed out the final two innings for a shutout, adding two strikeouts.

Paul Goldschmidt and Austin Wells each collected two hits, helping the Yankees finish with nine hits and eight walks.

Milwaukee Brewers 5, Los Angeles Angels 2
The Brewers inched closer to another NL Central title with a 5-2 win over the Angels, completing a three-game sweep. Christian Yelich’s double highlighted a three-run seventh inning rally, marking his 100th RBI of the season.

Aaron Ashby (4-2) earned the win with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. Abner Uribe and Jared Koenig combined for scoreless frames and a save. Milwaukee, already playoff-bound and with the best record in baseball, now leads the Cubs by six games in the division and reduced its magic number for a fourth title in five seasons to four.

New York Mets 6, San Diego Padres 1
Pete Alonso and Brandon Nimmo homered as rookie Jonah Tong threw five impressive innings, leading the Mets to a win over the Padres. Tong allowed four hits and one unearned run, walked none, and struck out eight—a career high in his fourth MLB start.

Four relievers closed out the game as the Mets extended their lead for the NL’s final wild-card spot to two games over Arizona. Padres starter Randy Vasquez (5-7) gave up four runs in 2 1/3 innings, leaving San Diego 2 1/2 games behind the Dodgers in the NL West.

Cleveland Guardians 3, Detroit Tigers 1
Jose Ramirez’s two-run homer in the tie-breaking sixth inning propelled Cleveland past Detroit, completing a three-game sweep of the AL Central leaders. The Guardians have now won seven straight and 12 of their last 13 games, closing within 3 1/2 games of the Tigers.

Detroit’s Colt Keith hit an RBI double but left early with back tightness. Cleveland’s Tanner Bibee and Detroit’s Tarik Skubal battled through a pitchers’ duel before Ramirez’s decisive homer.

Oakland Athletics 5, Boston Red Sox 3
Brent Rooker’s three-run homer in the first inning set the tone for Oakland’s 5-3 win over Boston, giving the Athletics six wins in their last seven games.

J.T. Ginn (4-6) limited the Red Sox to two runs in six innings, while Hogan Harris earned his fourth save. Boston’s David Hamilton and Trevor Story homered, but Story’s two costly errors contributed to the loss.

Tampa Bay Rays 4, Toronto Blue Jays 0
Shane Baz held Toronto to just two hits over five scoreless innings, while Chandler Simpson drove in two runs in a 4-0 Rays win. Tampa Bay split the four-game series with the AL East-leading Blue Jays.

Seattle Mariners 2, Kansas City Royals 0
Luis Castillo dominated for six innings, backed by RBI doubles from Jorge Polanco and J.P. Crawford, as Seattle shut out Kansas City. The win ties the Mariners with Houston atop the AL West with 11 wins in their last 12 games.

Miami Marlins 9, Colorado Rockies 7
Liam Hicks homered and drove in four runs, while Otto Lopez and Heriberto Hernandez also went deep to help Miami sweep a three-game series in Denver. Sandy Alcantara allowed three runs over 6 2/3 innings.

Cincinnati Reds 1, Chicago Cubs 0
Hunter Greene tossed a near no-hitter, allowing just one hit for his second career complete game, as Cincinnati edged the Cubs. Will Benson’s RBI double in the fourth inning provided all the offense needed. The Reds remain two games behind the Mets for the final NL wild-card spot.

Los Angeles Dodgers 2, San Francisco Giants 1
Freddie Freeman’s RBI single in a two-run sixth inning and Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s strong outing led Los Angeles to a 2-1 win over San Francisco. The Dodgers increased their NL West lead to three games over the Padres and are one win away from clinching a playoff berth.
