Zulfi Bukhari’s Property to Be Auctioned Amid £190M Corruption Case
Auction of Zulfi Bukhari’s Property Set Following £190 Million Corruption Case
Attock – The Assistant Commissioner of Jand has announced that the property of former federal minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zulfi Bukhari will be auctioned on October 1 at 11 a.m. at the Jand Municipal Office, officials confirmed.
Bukhari, already declared a proclaimed offender in a £190 million corruption case, saw his residence in Attock’s cantonment area sealed earlier this year in March, following orders from the Accountability Court in Islamabad.
Last year, the Islamabad Accountability Court had also ordered the seizure of Bukhari’s other properties, as part of ongoing proceedings in the high-profile case.
The case stems from a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigation into alleged irregularities involving the Al-Qadir University Trust. Bukhari, along with former Prime Minister Imran Khan, his wife, and several others, is accused of acquiring hundreds of canals of land under the trust, resulting in a reported loss of £190 million to the national exchequer.
According to NAB, funds amounting to Rs50 billion (£190 million), sent by Britain’s National Crime Agency (NCA), were allegedly misappropriated. The anti-corruption body has filed a corruption reference against Imran Khan and seven others in connection with the Al-Qadir University project, which was registered on December 26, 2019.
The upcoming auction marks the latest step in the accountability process against Bukhari, who remains an absconder in the ongoing investigation.
