Sehwan Manjhand Flooded as Indus River Surges
Floodwaters Submerge Sehwan and Manjhand, Dozens of Villages Evacuated
Sehwan and Manjhand are facing severe flooding as water from the Indus River has submerged low-lying areas and entered dozens of villages, forcing residents to leave their homes.
Authorities have reported that the river’s water is visible on both sides of the railway track, raising concerns that the rising levels could impact rail operations.
At Kotri Barrage, the Indus River’s inflow has surged to 421,100 cusecs, with an outflow of 393,600 cusecs. Upstream at Guddu Barrage, inflow and outflow are recorded at 163,300 and 138,300 cusecs, respectively. Sukkur Barrage has seen an inflow of 156,100 cusecs and an outflow of 102,100 cusecs.
Meanwhile, water levels in Punjab’s rivers—including the Indus, Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej—have returned to normal, according to the Flood Forecasting Division.
Officials continue to monitor the situation closely as rescue and relief efforts are underway in the affected areas.
