Government Delegation Holds Talks with JAAC to Resolve Protests in Azad Kashmir
MUZAFFARABAD — A high-level delegation, appointed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has begun talks with representatives of the Jammu and Kashmir Action Committee (JAAC) to address public grievances and ease the recent wave of protests in the region.
Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, shared photos from the meeting on his official X account, confirming that the second round of negotiations is underway.
Speaking about the discussions, Dr. Chaudhry emphasized the government’s commitment to the rights of the Kashmiri people. He said that most of JAAC’s demands, particularly those in the public interest, have already been accepted, while dialogue continues on the remaining demands that may require constitutional amendments.
“We believe that violence is not a solution,” he added, expressing hope that all issues will be resolved through peaceful dialogue.
The government delegation includes Federal Ministers Sardar Muhammad Yusuf and Ahsan Iqbal, Senator Rana Sanaullah, former AJK President Masood Khan, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, and Amir Muqam.
