Afridi Says Pakistan Misses Naseem Shah Ahead of Asia Cup Final

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has heaped praise on fast bowler Naseem Shah, saying his absence is being felt in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025.

Speaking on a sports show, Afridi highlighted Naseem’s skills in current conditions.

“Naseem Shah was perfect for these pitches. I really missed him,” Afridi said. “His partnership with Shaheen Afridi would have been outstanding. Naseem’s line and length are superb, and that’s why I rate him so highly.”

Commenting on Naseem’s recent dip in form, Afridi stressed the need to manage player workloads.
“After a strong series, players like Naseem, Shaheen, and Haris Rauf must be given rest,” he noted. “Naseem’s ability to swing the new ball beautifully makes him a real asset. I truly miss watching Naseem and Shaheen bowl together.”

Meanwhile, Pakistan sealed their place in the Asia Cup 2025 final with a nail-biting win over Bangladesh in the Super Four stage. Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf grabbed three wickets each, while the spinners kept things tight to restrict Bangladesh.

Chasing 136, Bangladesh stumbled under pressure and finished on 124-9 in 20 overs, giving Pakistan an 11-run victory. The result has set up a historic Pakistan vs India final — the first time the two arch-rivals will meet in an Asia Cup title clash.
